Twisted Sister Picture
Twisted Sister is an American heavy metal band from New York City popularized in comedic music videos on the television channel MTV in the 1980s. Although formed by guitar player Jay Jay French in 1973, all of their songs were written by the lead singer Dee Snider. They fused the shock tactics of Alice Cooperand W.A.S.P., the rebellious mood of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, the style of the New York Dolls, and the extravagant makeup of Kiss. Often misconceived as glam - the makeup and Dee's especially was more transformed into a horror creation, and the music is a lot more hard hitting, with less lyrics about sex, than glam rock. The group's hit songs include "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock".

Jailhouse Rock Lyrics

Twisted Sister

[Jerry Leiber/Mike Stoller]

Warden threw a party in the county jail
Prison band plays, they began to wail
Band was jumpin' and the joint began to swing
Should've heard those knocked out jailbirds sing

[CHORUS:]

Let's rock
Everybody let's rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Dancin' to a jailhouse rock

Shifty Henry said, for the heaven's sake
No one lookin', now our chance to make a break
Bugs turned to Shifty, said nix nix
Gonna stick around, gonna get my kicks

[REPEAT CHORUS]

Number Forty zero said to number Three
You're the cutest jailbird I ever did see
Sure I'd be delighted with your company
Come on and do the jailhouse cock with me

[REPEAT CHORUS]

[Solo - left: Jay Jay, right: Eddie]

Sad sack was sittin' on a block of stone
Over in the floor weepin' all alone
Warden said, hey buddy, don'tcha be no square
Can't find a partner, fuck a wooden chair

[REPEAT CHORUS]

Shifty Henry said, for the heaven's sake
No one lookin', now our chance to make a break
Bugs turned to Shifty, said nix nix
Gonna stick around, I wanna get my kicks

[REPEAT CHORUS]

Dancin' to a jailhouse rock
Dancin' to a jailhouse rock
Dancin' to a jailhouse rock
Dancin' to a jailhouse rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Dancin' to a jailhouse rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Said, a-dancin' to a jailhouse rock
